Bethel’s New Elders 2017

Bethel’s elders were installed on May 7th. Eric Ewan, Pete McKnight and Doug Walvatne share their favorite Scripture passages and how they see it tying into the mission of Bethel Church. Please keep these men in your prayers as they step into their roles in leadership.

Below is a little bit of information about each elder.

Eric Ewan
Family: Catherine (wife), six children
Campus: Battle Lake campus
Favorite Bible Verse: Acts 15:10,11

This is one of my favorites as it speaks to the fact that Christ died for all, and as Peter says, referring to the Gentiles, “ We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that they are saved, just as they are.” It doesn’t say if you do this or say this or behave well….it says “by grace…just as you are”. The more we realize the perfect gift of salvation is complete, without us “trying and doing,” the more we are free to love, serve and follow Him because of what He has done!

Peter McKnight
Family: Delight (wife), one daughter
Campus: Fergus Falls campus
Favorite Bible Verse: Philippians 3:13-14

This verse is special to me because when the enemy brings up my past failures, it reminds me to forget them and look forward to what God has for me in the future.
It also compels me to have a sense of urgency and to persevere.

Doug Walvatne
Family: Valerie (wife); Three children and four grandchildren
Campus: Fergus Falls campus
Favorite Bible Verse: Romans 8:38-39

This passage gives me the assurance that I have as a believer in Jesus’ finished work that there is nothing on this earth that can separate me from that great love that God has for me.
