During Bethel’s Annual Meeting on January 28th, we had a chance to recognize and thank LaWayne Rogness for his 40 years of service as the treasurer of Bethel Church. Elder Board Chair, Daryle Synstelien share the following words before presenting LaWayne with a gift (see photograph).
LaWayne has just completed his 40th and final year as Treasurer of Bethel Lutheran Church. That would be 40 Annual Meetings, 120 Regular Business Meetings, and roughly 480 Trustee/Finance Team meetings – give or take!
There is no way that we can adequately express our appreciation and gratitude in a proportionate manner for the years of dedication and service LaWayne has provided for the church. But this I do know; that faithful stewardship in the care and service of the church, the bride of Christ, is of particular importance to the bridegroom, our Lord Jesus Christ – and His reward is of eternal value.
Our temporal efforts at expressing appreciation for LaWayne has two parts: first, in a formal setting of an Annual Business meeting, it is fitting to acknowledge and applaud the past four decades of service in a formal manner. Then, secondly, in the near future we would like to schedule an evening for a more personal time of celebration, where we can invite LaWayne’s family to celebrate with us. (Stay tuned for the date and time of that celebration.) Now, it is with full hearts – hearts filled with joy, gratitude, and appreciation – that we say “Thank you!” for four decades of dedicated service to Bethel Lutheran Church.
