How To Have a H.A.P.P.Y. Christmas – Relax

Do you ever wonder why Jesus was born at a time when life was so inefficient? People had to walk everywhere, or, if they could afford it, ride an animal. Most work was done to gather the basic necessities of food and clothing. There were no quick ways of mass communication like we have today. Hand carried letters and word of mouth communication was how they sent messages.

But what if God knew what he was doing when he sent Jesus “when the time had fully come” as the scripture says? Maybe our standards of speed and efficiency today could actually make it hard for us to “be still and know that he is God”?

We are encouraging you to RELAX this Christmas season: to worship at the feet of the one who walked everywhere and invites you to “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Take it home ideas:

  • Turn off your screens and read the Christmas story as a family together.
  • Listen to Christmas music and make cookies together as a family instead of using your screens one evening per week.
  • Host a “Not-a-performance Potluck” with the only rule being ‘whatever you were eating that night you will bring and share with others’ and invite others to eat with you and sing Christmas carols afterward (or deliver cookies to friends)
