Bethel's Ministry Update - April 30

Bethel Church,

Thank you for your patience during this time of isolation. We are looking forward to the day when we can get together again. While we are living apart, we hope to continue serving God in ways that he has gifted each of us and in the areas where he has placed each of us.

We have five (5) things for you this week:

1. SUNDAY WORSHIP - Just like past weeks, we invite you to join us for worship online (starting at 8:00 AM) at bethellutheran.church/stream, our mobile app and Facebook.
Want to spread God's Word in a simple way? Share Bethel's worship service and daily resources on Facebook. As more people share our posts, the reach of our ministry grows exponentially!

2. Weekly Prayer Gatherings (Wednesdays / 10:30 AM & 7:30 PM) - Join Pastor Rich and Pastor Kevin for weekly prayer gatherings over Zoom (A short devotional and small groups time of prayer). The links that were included in our weekly email will work each week until we decide to suspend these online gatherings. If you haven't received the links, please contact the church office and we will provide them to you. (218) 736-5654 / office@bethellutheran.church

3. "30 DAYS of PRAYER" during RAMADAN (started Friday, April 24) - You're invited to pray for Muslims across the world, including the Bagirmi People Group whom Nathanael and Carrie Szobody are serving in Chad, Africa. This is the month of Ramadan, a holy month for Islam. Weekly videos on how to pray will be posted each Monday afternoon. Watch the videos here: http://bethellutheran.church/missions

4. COMMUNION DURING THIS CRISIS - Bethel's Pastors invite you to contact them if you would like to receive personal communion during this time when we cannot gather together as a whole church. Please call the office to ask about this for you and your family. Meanwhile, we look forward to sharing the Lord's Supper all together as soon as possible.

5. COMMUNITY CARE & RESPONSE - Bethel has developed some simple initiatives to provide and care for our communities:
  1. Take-out Tuesday - We encourage each of you to set aside a meal each week and grab take-out from a local restaurant. If we all do this, and many of you have already been doing that, we can make a difference in local businesses.
  2. Face Masks - A number of generous people of Bethel have been making face masks for those who need them and for local hospitals. If you need a mask, people contact the church office and Bethel's Parish Nurse Julie Gundersen will set up a time to pick them up.
  3. Nominate Your Mom (Mother's Day Contest) - Ten mothers will win a $20 gift card to a local restaurant in celebration of Mother's Day. Fill out the online form here: https://bit.ly/mymom2020
Winners will be announced on Facebook and by direct contact on May 6th.

More initiatives are in the works. If you have a good idea for how we can MAKE ROOM in order to care for our community, please let us know!

Thank you for being the Church during this difficult time!
