The GIVE Challenge

A Journey of Generosity:
Give Something → Give Consistently → Grow in It

Step 1: Give Something
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.” – 1 Peter 4:10

Challenge: If you have never given before, start by giving something. No amount is too small—it’s about taking the first step.

Ways to Start:
✔ Do you know someone who’s going through a tough time? Offer them the gift of your time and a listening ear. Take a moment to reach out to a neighbor, coworker, or classmate.
✔ Give a one-time gift of money. Choose an amount that is meaningful to you—$10, $100, etc.
✔ Pray and ask God to meet your needs so that you can share what you have.

Encouragement: Your first step in giving is a step of faith. God sees your heart and honors your willingness to begin!
Step 2: Give Consistently
“On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income.” – 1 Corinthians 16:2

Challenge: Move from occasional giving to consistent giving. Develop the habit of generosity by setting up a regular gift.

Ways to Stay Consistent:
✔ Offer to help or say yes to serving in a ministry that feels like a good fit for you.
✔ Set up a recurring money gift online. Give as often as you are paid, no matter the amount.
✔ Create a Simple Budget: Prioritize generosity so you can regularly support God’s work, through your finances and service.

Encouragement: Consistency in giving builds trust in God. As you make generosity a habit, you will experience God’s provision and peace in new ways.

Step 3: Grow in It
“But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” – 2 Corinthians 8:7

Challenge: Take the next step by increasing your generosity. If you are already giving, consider stretching your faith by growing in generosity.

Ways to Grow:
✔ As you spot needs in the community, consider where your time and talents could help most.
✔ Increase your giving by a small percentage each year (e.g., if you currently give 3% of your income, ask God to help you move to 4%; if you give an hour of time, how about two?).
✔ Pray about tithing (giving 10% of your income) as a goal to reach for.
✔ Expand your giving to include a specific mission goal or outreach effort through Bethel.

Encouragement: As you grow in giving, you will find joy and freedom in trusting God with your finances. Your generosity has a direct impact on the lives of others!

Your Giving Combined With The Church  - Bethel Financial Update

Thank you for your giving to Bethel!

Your gifts fuel the ministries of the church which proclaim Good News to a world in great need of exactly that!  God intended for us to gather in worship.  We also gather as we give, it’s amazing to see what God can do as we bring our gifts together as one church body.  Check out this video from our Director of Operations, Kate Haus, and she shares a brief update on the finances of Bethel Church…the results of our gathered giving!

Financial Accountability at Bethel

When you give to an organization, you might wonder, how can I trust they’ll use my gifts responsibly?  We take the question seriously at Bethel.  Here are some details you should know.

1. Our Director of Operations handles day to day financial details.  Two financial secretaries process the deposits weekly.  Only our Director of Operations and our financial secretaries see giving details.

2. We have a Treasurer elected by the congregation.  The Treasurer meets with the Director of Operations monthly to review the work done and serve as the eyes of the congregation.

3. We have a Finance Committee of the Elder Board.  The Director of Operations and Treasurer report to them monthly.

4. We have two auditor elected by the congregation.  At the end of each fiscal year, they review all of the financial operations and audit income and expenses.

5. If you have any questions, please email Kate at kate@bethellutheran.church.
